October 1 is the international Day of elderly people

October 1 is the international Day of elderly people, marked annually since 1991 in accordance with the UNO decision.

Celebration of the Day of elderly people is directed to attraction of public attention to problems of elderly persons, to the rise of the level of people’s awareness about the problem of the society’s demographic ageing, to individual and social needs of elderly people, their contribution to development of the society and to the necessity of their participation in public, economic, cultural and spiritual life of the country.

According to information of Ministry for labor and population social protection RB more than 820 thousand pensioners live in Bashkiria now.

Press service of the Ministry for labor and population social protection RB reports that on the eve of the Day of elderly people Republican medical institutions traditionally hold free consultations on prophylactics of ageing, healthy way of life and rational meals as well as the days of open doors, accompanied with consultations of medical specialists, ECG-examinations, X-ray and laboratory examinations.
