Mass-media should be fined for obscene lexicon - Roskomnadzor

author: Alfiya Sharafutdinova

Mass-media should be fined for use of obscene lexicon. Roskomnadzor (Federal Supervision Agency for Information Technologies and Communications) came forward with the initiative to make corresponding amendments to the Code of the Russian Federation concerning administrative offences.

It is marked on the department website that the current legislation, in particular, the Federal law from June 1, 2005 «Concerning the state language of the Russian Federation» does not provide responsibility of mass-media for use of the lexicon mismatching norms of Russian as the state language of the Russian Federation. Measures of explanatory nature as Roskomnadzor practice shows are ineffective. Only introduction of administrative penalties can remedy the situation.

It is informed also that more often citizens complain to Roskomnadzor concerning use of non-standard lexicon in TV programs – first of all in various reality shows and comic shows.
