Irek Yalalov: «Russia's accession to the WTO opens borders for fast penetration of import goods»
Since August 22, the Russian Federation achieved the status of the official participant of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The comment on this occasion was given by the head of Ufa administration Irek Yalalov.
“Our country tried to achieve this right practically 20 years. Long delays testify to the fact that Russia is considered as a strong competitor. However, going from the all-Russian level to the city one, I will mark that there are certain fears concerning the state of Ufa economy, but they are of theoretical nature than of applied one.
For example, the republic practically will not feel changes in the field of agriculture. Most likely joining the trading organisation will not affect economic situation in hi-tech manufactures, such as motor industry. Meanwhile, the new status of the WTO participant opens borders for faster penetration of import goods into our republic and the country as a whole. It is early to speak about results of WTO accession so far. But it is not expected distinctive decrease in economics. On the contrary, I consider that the population will feel only positive changes. On a number of goods it is expected reduction of prices, and republican manufacturers will be compelled to work more effectively and productively. Now there is only one way of industry development – bringing our manufacture into compliance with the world standards level, the head of Ufa administration underlined.
