Bashkir Sabantuy was celebrated in Paldiski
Within the frameworks of the visit to the Estonian Paldiski city by the official delegation of Bashkortostan headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government RB Salavat Sagitov and the Town Day a Sabantuy was celebrated there. The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov sent his greeting to its participants, the chairman of the Bashkir Cultural Society "Agidel" Flyuza Hairullina told about it the Bashinform News Agency.
Mayor Paldiski Kaupo Kallas marked at the holiday that our people were connected with tragic destinies of two legendary national heroes: Salavat Yulaev had been sent for penal servitude to Estonia in 1775, and the first President of the Estonian Republic Konstantin Pyats in 1940 had been exiled to Bashkiria.
The Bashkir Sabantuy gathered in Paldiski compatriots from all Baltic. Stars of the Estonian pop music, the known "Dalan" band from Ufa, the Estonian dancing group "Karikakar", the soloist of Estonia Opera Theatre Villu Valdmaa took part in the celebratory concert.
Tug-of-war, comic competition on sack-racing, pots beating raised a great excitement in the program of national feast. The Bashkir society "Agidel" treated everybody with ethnic cuisine dishes — traditional chak-chak and koumiss.
The holiday finished at the monument to Salavat Yulaev. Timur Murtazin and Ilnur Hairullin read surahs from the Koran, poetess Lee Seppel recited verses of Salavat Yulaev in the Estonian language.
During Bashkortostan delegation’s visit the meeting with compatriots was organised.
