The IX all-Russian children contest of Koran readers, initiated by the Central Clerical Muslim Dept of Russia and Russian Islamic University, will take place on July 14 in Ufa mosque “LALA-TULPAN”. The pro-rector of Russian Islamic University Mursal Akhmetov reports that 120 applications are already received and children from Bashkortostan, Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk, Orenburg, Kurgan and Samara regions will take part in the contest.
“In order to ensure fair distribution of prizes we divided children in categories: those who learn to read Koran just for the first year, those, who study Koran one year and more and real experts will compete separately” – he said – “We prepared tablet PCs, smartphones, digital cameras and other prizes for winners”.
The jury, consisting of pedagogues from Russian Islamic University and imams, will estimate young competitors. The chairman of the Central Clerical Muslim Dept of Russia, Supreme Mufti Talgat Tadjuddin and several regional muftis promised to visit the contest.
