Great attention is paid in Kumertau to form accessible urban environment
Formation of the accessible urban environment for all categories of citizens is one of the important tasks of Kumertau city administration.
While celebrating of Kumertau Town Day a solemn opening of reconstructed Mazhit Gafuri Square took place. At the design stage the passways and leisure areas for all categories of townspeople were provided there. For convenience of aged persons, mothers with baby carriages and wheelchair invalids a flat bias of footpaths and sidewalks is made, for sight-disabled persons paths are equipped by precautionary guideway painted in yellow colour, which helps with orientation.
Sergey Afonin, Deputy Prime Minister RB, the Minister of Housing and Communal Services who took part in the square opening marked that arrangement of movement ways for visually impaired people with tactile contrast guideway was the first experience in the republic which should be shared with all municipal bodies to create barrier-free environment.
“Elimination of “physical” barriers is the first step on creation of the accessible environment. It is necessary to make much more to create comfortable conditions for Kumertau townspeople and visitors,” the head of city administration Boris Belyaev underlined.
