The XVIII international ballet art festival by Rudolph Nureev will be opened in Ufa with the ballet “Corsair”. The festival will be held at the Bashkir State Theater of opera and ballet from May 30 to June 7.
The festival will traditionally start with flower laying ceremony to Rudolph Nureev’s bas-relief. Same day the gypsum bust of Rudolph Nureev, delivered for Ufa from Paris, will be presented to the Theater’s Museum. French sculptor Pierre Turenne is the author of the 56-sm sculpture.
The festival’s program-2012 includes four ballets, united by the name of Rudolph Nureev. Thus, the ballet “Corsair”, staged by famous Uri Grigorovitch, will be demonstrated on the stage of the Theater of opera and ballet on May 31. On June 2 the role of Albert in this ballet on the stage of the theater “Giselle” has become the first lyrical role and the first triumph for Rudolph Nureev. The ballet “Swan’s Lake” by Peter Tchaikovsky will be shown on June 3. The role of Siegfried was one of the main and the best in professional destiny of Rudolph Nureev. On June 4 Russian Show Company “Commonwealth” and International Union of choreographers will present gala-show of Russian ballet stars and winners of prestigious international contest will dance on the stage of Ufa Theater already for the fourth time.
The performance “La Bayadere” by Ludwig Minks will be demonstrated on June 5 and “Don Quixote” again by Ludwig Minks — on June 6.
The festival will be closed on June 7 by grandioso gala-show with participation of many Russian and foreign ballet stars.
