Today is the Day of Slavic literature and culture
May 24 is the Day of Slavic literature and culture and Slavic nations glorify the creators of Slavic alphabet – Cyril and Methodius – today.
Every year Republic of Bashkortostan holds numerous actions, devoted to the Day of Slavic literature and culture. In 2011 the Days started in our Republic on May 11. The Days began with the Days of Polish culture, devoted to the 15th anniversary of Polish Culture and Enlightenment Center, the Year of happy childhood and family values in Bashkortostan and to the Year of Yanush Korchak in Poland. The Days of Polish culture were held on May 11-17 in Ufa, Birsk, Neftekamsk, Blagoveshensky and Ufimsky regions RB. On May 13 Republican national-cultural Ukrainian center RB “KOBZAR” has demonstrated a folk theatrical performance in Ufa and on May 17 students of Ufa State Academy of Arts played songs of Russian and foreign composers in S.T. Aksakov House-Museum. Traditional folk festival has taken place on May 19 in the village Nikolo-Berezovka. Festival of Russian song has taken place on May 23 in the village Arkhangelskoe. On May 25 Byelorussian historical-cultural center “Baltika” will present the program “Study about Slavic Alphabet”.
All-Russian conference “Russian language: history and culture” will be held at the Bashkir State Pedagogical University by M. Akmullah. The VI international “Cyril and Methodius Readings” and the IX scientific student conference “We are in Slavic World” will take place in Ufa office of Moscow State Humanitarian University by M. Sholokhov. The XX folklore festival of old Russian songs will take place in the village Krasny Yar, Ufimsky region RB. The Days of Slavic literature and culture will be over on May 29 and the local lore conference, devoted to the 150th anniversary from the birthday of Michael Aksakov, will be its final action.
