“Family and childhood: experience, problems and solutions” – this is the theme of the fifth all-Russian family congress, opened in Ufa today. Its participants intend to discuss problems of demography and family values, strategy of family policy development in the country and its legislative provision.
As the rector of the Russian State Social University, Vice-President of the national public committee “Russian Family” Lidia Fedyakina said, the whole society should pay attention to the problem with drop of family authority, restoration of moral and spiritual values and child-rearing practices.
“Russia holds one of the first places in the world by the number of abortions and divorces. We have great number of kids, born out of wedlock and reared in boarding houses” – she said – “This problem raises alarm and we have to solve it jointly”.
There are many other burning issues and the problem with housing is the first one in this list.
“An average Russian citizen has to spend about 25 years in order to afford himself to buy a flat” – Lidia Fedyakina added. She is certain that these and many other problems should be discussed in the form of a dialogue: “It has to be a dialogue between public society and the state and only in this case we may hope for conducting really efficient modern family policy”.
