Republican forum “Islam, Youth, Future” is held today in Congress-Hall, Ufa. It is organized by the Council for state and inter-confessional relations under the President RB, Bashkir State Pedagogical University by M. Akmullah, Central Clerical Muslim Dept of Russia, Clerical Muslim Dept RB and Russian Islamic University. The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov, the chief of the department for interaction with religious organizations of the Presidential Administration of Russia Ilya Barinov, the chairman of the Central Clerical Muslim Dept of Russia, supreme Mufti Talgat Tadjuddin, the chairman of the Clerical Muslim Dept RB Nurmukhamet Nigmatullin, executive officer of Bashkortostan’s Metropolitanate, archbishop Ignati Klimov, scientists, pedagogues of Islamic and secular education institutions, religious activists RB and more than 600 representatives of Muslim youth RB are taking part in its work.
Talking before the participants of the meeting the President RB Rustem Khamitov said that the today’s forum wasn’t just an ordinary event for the Republic.
“Many centuries ago the nations of our land have adopted Islam” – the President RB said- “Ufa is considered the official center of Russian Islam during more than 200 years. The Central Clerical Muslim Dept of Russia is located in our city and it plays important role in public and political life of the whole country. In 2011 the President of Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev has visited the Clerical Muslim Dept twice, talking to its leadership and Muslim clergy. He pays special attention to this institute of spiritual power in our country. Representatives of more than 130 nationalities, living in our Republic, are the adherents of all main traditional religions. The authority is interested in making favorable social-political climate without conflicts on social and religious grounds in the republic. Republic of Bashkortostan is an example of peaceful and calm life and we have to preserve this variant of development”.
“We want to make favorable conditions for activity of all religious institutions here and the council for state and inter-confessional relations under the President RB plays important role in that. Commissions for state and inter-religious relations work in all our municipalities. Youth religious structures will be also attracted to this work and this is very important and responsible task to attract young people to such activity”.
As Rustem Khamitov mentioned, the authority tries to work for the good of people and it is important for the republican leadership that every person must have stable work and good salary, cheap and good housing. More than 11 thousand people have received jobs in 2011, the program “The Right for the Start” is launched, the program “Provincial Doctor” is stably developed and the program “500 Farms” is approved not long ago.
“At the same time we worry about certain parasitical moods and social apathy among many young people” – the President RB underscored – “There are people, who want to work but there are those, who come when somebody else has got things going and who don’t pay serious attention to what is happening in our society today. I often visit Muslim countries and talk to young people, politicians, businessmen and public activists there. We can just envy their economic activity and creativity and our youth should become the most enterprising and initiative part of the society”
The President RB touched upon the problem of inter-confessional conflicts in the world, often resulting in disasters for peaceful population and in death of women and kids.
“These crimes have nothing to do with Islam and people, committing such crimes, are staying beyond any religion irrespective of the ideas they cover themselves with. The problem of removing the roots of religious extremism fr om Islam here, in our country, wh ere millions Muslims live, is of paramount importance for security of the state and for the unity of its society. Religious tolerance and benevolence are the distinctive features of Bashkortostan’s nations. We never faced religious wars on our territory and there will be no such wars in the future. Traditional Islam is deprived of the cult of bellicosity and aggression; it strives for progress and enlightenment”.
In opinion of Rustem Khamitiv special attention should be paid to Islamic education.
“Striving for knowledge is obligation of every Muslim” – the President RB said – “Our land is traditionally considered one of the most important centers of Islamic education. Thus, Russian Islamic University is the legal successor of famous madrasah “Galia”. Opening of the center “Development of Muslim education” under the Bashkir State Pedagogical University has become one more important event. Practically every our mosque has primary schools for teaching Islamic basics. New subject “The basics of religious culture and secular ethics” will be included into curriculums beginning from new school year”.
Speeches of leading religious, scientific and public activists of Russia and Bashkortostan continued the work of the forum. At the end of it participants of the forum intend to approve corresponding resolution.
