author: Alik Shakirov

On April 19 delegation of Bashkortostan left for the conference of Turk-speaking Wikimedia. The conference will take place in Alma-Ata (Kazakhstan) on April 20-21. It is initiated by Wikimedia Foundation for Wikimedia Turk community, representatives of Turk countries and regions. Kazakh public foundation WIKIBILIM – official representative of Wikimedia in Kazakhstan – is the organizer of the conference. The conference is held at the Kazakh National University by Al-Farabi and the staff of Bashkortostan’s delegation includes representatives of Bashkir Wikimedia: Zufar Salikhov – machine operator at JSC “UFAORGSINTEZ”, Azat Khalilov – pedagogue of Bashkir language and literature from Kumertau and administrator of Bashkir Wikipedia Rustam Nuryev.

For the reference: Wikimedia Foundation supports more than 10 global projects, creating freely distributed educational and background resources and the uniqueness of these projects is that they give a chance to form databases in all languages of the world. All projects are developed by volunteers and any person may join them without any restrictions.

The free encyclopedia – Wikipedia – is developed in Bashkir language too. On April 16 it celebrated its 7th anniversary. Participants of Bashkir Wikipedia don’t intend to restrict themselves within the frames of just one project and would like to develop other directions in Bashkir language. Thus, Bashkir Wiki-dictionary, collection of Bashkir Wiki-citations and Bashkir Wiki-text-book will appear in internet in the nearest future.
