A group of young people in Bashkortostan shoots the series of reels about veterans of the Great Patriotic War within the frames of the all-Russian project “Our Common Victory”. The project is initiated by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs and the action is directed at patriotic education of youth, making a big video-archive of the Great Patriotic Wars’ eyewitnesses and at struggle with falsifications of history. The initiative was supported by the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov and “United Russia Young Guardians” regional division in Bashkortostan.
The curator of the project in Bashkortostan Alexander Ivanov told that about two thousand volunteers from Ufa, Sterlitamac, Neftekamsk and other towns and villages RB visited veterans and interviewed them. All questions and answers are recorded on video. After that the materials are placed on the site www.41-45.su and sent to the Russian State Archive.
‘We are short of time because veterans leave us every day” – he says – “We have to talk to them as soon as possible in order to leave the names of the heroes in our history and memory forever”.
More than 100 video recordings about veterans of the Great Patriotic War, living in Bashkortostan, have been shot since February 2011. By May 9, 2012, the volunteers intend to increase the number of records up to 150.
