Sugar beet will occupy 67 thousand hectares in Bashkiria this year. Bashkir agrarians intend to increase sugar beet plantations five times and this tendency will be definitely preserved in 2013.
“Sugar beet remains one of the most profitable crops” – the first deputy Minister for agriculture RB Nikolai Kovalenko reports – “In order to supply four local sugar plants with sugar beet we must have at least 67-68 thousand hectares here”.
Nikolai Kovalenko has also reported that on March 30 sugar plants signed contracts for delivery of 1,2 million tons of sugar beet, while the plants’ capacities make up 1,6 million tons per year.
