Deputies of State Duma try to work up the bill about public TV
The members of State Duma culture committee intend to introduce the bill about public TV, the deputy chairman of the committee Zugura Rakhmatullina reported to the news agency “Bashinform”.
According to her the idea concerning public TV exists for rather long period of time. Not long ago the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has mentioned it in his Message. Parliamentary hearings, in the course of which state, public and religious activists, popular TV presenters and artists were sharing their ideas concerning this problem, have taken place lately. As the deputy mentioned, huge flow of negative information pours from TV- screens at present time: too much blood, violence, cruelty and vulgarity. In her opinion the TV-channel “Culture” remains the only one federal channel, really protecting spiritual basics of the society.
“The question: “Is public TV going to be?” still remain open” – Zugura Rakhmatullina said to “Bashinform” – “If yes, in what form this TV should be present? First of all this TV has to be pure, carrying good and truth, beauty and tolerance. This TV has to be intellectual and scientific-educational; it should be the example in media-space. At the same time this TV should be free, expressing different point of views”.
The concept of public TV isn’t yet formed up to the end and now it is necessary to determine the role of state structures, sources of financing and on the base of what it is to be established – either on an absolutely new site or on the base of already working channel. Parliamentarians and public community have to solve these and other problems in the nearest future in order to work up the corresponding bill.
