On March 20 the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov has held a work meeting with general director of “Metro Cash & Carry” Erin de Groote
The public affairs service of the President RB reports the parties were discussing the company’s plans concerning erection of the second trade center in Ufa and widening of cooperation with local producers.
“Sure, we’d like to continue our successful joint activity and I am aware that your first center, opened in our Republic, has good financial and economic results” – Rustem Khamitov mentioned – “If you decide to continue developing your business in our Republic, we are ready to provide you with quite good and comfortable work conditions”.
Erin de Groote has reported that three weeks ago the company made the decision to erect the second company’s trade center in the northern part of the city. “After the end of all registration procedures, we will announce our decision officially” – he reported.
For the reference: “Metro Cash & Carry” is a trade division of “Metro Group”, working in 30 countries. Russian division of the company consists of 60 trade centers in 30 regions of Russia. At present time about 90% of goods, sold by the company, are manufactured in Russia. The first “Metro” project in Bashkiria has become a reality in 2005. The total area of its trade center in Ufa is 11,9 thousand square meters and more than 20 million euro have been invested in this project. About 290 new workplaces were opened. Tax payments to the budget RB since the moment of the center’s opening amounted to more than 329 million rubles. The total volume of investments in construction of the second center expected to be more than 20 million euro. 180 new workplaces will be opened there.
