The Chairman of Russian Government Vladimir Putin considers agriculture one of strategic branches of economics for the country, putting it in one line with, for instance, space exploration or machine building. He has stated it at the all-Russian agrarian forum in Ufa on February 28.
In his opinion agriculture faces good prospects and opportunities for implementation of new technologies in this branch are very high as well as opportunities for opening new workplaces. Besides, food safety of the country directly depends upon situation in agriculture. Since 2006 the amount of investments in agricultural complex of Russia exceeded one and a half trillion rubles. These investments brought real results, improving life of millions people and consolidating Russian economics in a whole. Inflation in 2011 was the lowest for the last 20 years and thanks to good harvest-2011 food prices remained at rather low level.
