Snap poll at presidential elections started in Russia
Snap poll on the elections of the President of the country started in Russia on February 17. The poll will be held on remote and hard-to-access territories, at polar stations and lighthouses, on the ships, which will go to the sea on the voting day, and at some election stations, found beyond the territory of Russia, ITAR-TASS reports.
The Russian Central Electoral Commission reports the snap poll will take place in 36 Russian regions, where hard-to-access territories are present, i.e. practically this is the whole Far East, some regions of Siberia and Ural and northern territories. At that we are talking about just rather small number of voters – slightly more than 1% of all voters of the country. Thus, during the last State Duma elections it was planned that the snap poll would cover about 150 thousand voters in total complexity. The snap poll will last in the country till March 3 and it will be organized for Russian voters in some foreign countries too. Yesterday the Central Electoral Commission of Russia has permitted to start snap poll in 58 countries. According to preliminary calculations the snap poll will cover more than 80 thousand compatriots abroad. The snap poll will be also organized in six Muslim countries, where the weekend doesn’t fall on Sunday.
