Rustem Khamitov is rewarded with silver medal by Pitirim Sorokin
The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov is rewarded with the honorable silver medal by Pitirim Sorokin “For Endowment to Science”, the plenipotentiary office RB under the President of Russia reports. Several scientists, politicians and public activists, having recently made the highest endowment to development of public life and social sphere in Russia, have been rewarded at the IV all-Russian sociological congress “Sociology in the system of intellectual management of the society”. The congress was held in Moscow and leading scientific and education institutions of Russia, well-known Russian and foreign scientists, public employees and young specialists were taking part in it.
Various meetings and scientific sections, devoted to investigations of very different problems, related to social structure of Russian society, sociology of culture, science, politics, religion, education, labor, management, health, childhood and other spheres – the themes, having not just wide scientific response but also being of paramount importance for Russian society – have taken place within the frames of the forum.
For the reference: Pitirim Alexandrovitch Sorokin – is a popular Russian-American sociologist, theoretician and analytic of sociology, the author of many fundamental works, the investigator of dynamism of social and cultural stratification of the society. The scientist has finished the University of Saint-Petersburg and was one of the leaders of the Socialist Revolutionary Party in 1917. After the February revolution he was the secretary of A. Kerensky and the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “The Will of Nation”. After the October revolution he had immigrated to the United States, where he has become the honorable Professor of Harvard University, where he organized and headed the faculty of sociology. The American Sociological Association established the annual award, named after P. Sorokin, for the best book, devoted to sociology. Honorable medals by P. Sorokin are traditionally presented at all recent Russian sociological congresses.
