Bashkortostan joins the project “Big Volga”
The tourist brand “Big Volga” unites the Russian regions, located along the banks of Volga. The agreement about cooperation in sphere of tourism was signed in 2008 by Ulyanovsk, Samara regions and Republic of Tatarstan. Republics of Chuvashia and Mari-Al, Saratov, Penza and Nizhniy Novgorod regions joined the agreement in 2009. Bashkortostan joined the project within the frames of the all-Russian forum for social tourism on December 15-16, 2011.
Cooperation in this sphere will contribute to development of cruise tourism, the increase of the tourist inflow due to the tourists, arriving from the neighboring regions, and to opening of additional tourist routes in the Volga zone. For Bashkiria this agreement means that the republican towns, located along the banks of Belaya and Kama rivers may figure on additional opportunities for development of the tourist branch as well as of local economics as a whole.
