A congress of the Russian Peasant Farming and Agricultural Co-operatives Association will be held in Ufa, the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov reported during regular gathering of the Ufa city council, where a new Ufa Mayor Irek Yalalov was elected. About one thousand delegates from all Russian regions will arrive in Ufa to take part in the congress. According to the President the congress will be held in two-three weeks and the decision concerning its holding in Ufa was made just several days ago in Moscow.
The Russian Peasant Farming and Agricultural Co-operatives Association was established in January 1990. Protection of rights and interests of Russian peasants and farmers is considered its main goal. At present time the association unites 68 regional peasant unions and associations, which in their turn unite more than 600 farmer organizations and about 1500 co-operative companies and enterprises.
