The national park "Bashkiria" will take part in the prestigious contest of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to the subject "Preservation and restoration of rare and especially precious animals on specially protected natural territories". Six winners will be rewarded with the grants — every one at the rate of 480 thousand rubles — for realization of their ideas.
WWF believes that thanks to this contest specialists of the reserves and national parks of the country will work up new measures for preservation of rare species of animals and plants, found under the threat of disappearance. The matter is the rare species, included into the Russian Red Book. At present time the Book includes about 260 groups of spinal animals, 155 groups of spineless animals and almost 680 groups of plants.
Besides, some animals and plants can be regarded as especially valuable for the natural reserves and parks, though not being rare — such as big predators and ungulates. The applications for participation in the contest are accepted since December 14, 2011 and till January 31, 2012.
