At the meeting of the Bashkir-Finnish workgroup, held in Ufa today, the parties were negotiating possible directions in mutual cooperation. As the news agency “Bashinform” reported earlier, the official delegation from Finland arrived in Bashkortostan yesterday on a two-day visit with the purpose to establish new business, scientific and cultural contacts and search for new common grounds.
Bashkir-Finnish relations are maintained since 1994 and since then Finland recommended itself a reliable partner, the deputy Prime-Minister of the Government RB, the head of the Governmental Machinery RB Ilshat Tajitdinov said to the comers. The range of our relations is very wide: machine building, telecommunications, timber industry and agriculture. At the same time our relations slightly weakened for the last time. Thus, in January-September 2011 Finland holds just the 17th place among foreign partners of Bashkortostan with 1,4%-share and the inflow of investments from this country doesn't reach even 40 thousand USD now.
The Vice-Premier has underscored in his speech that strengthening of the investment constituent is one of the main aims of our mutual cooperation and the fact that now the economics of the region is becoming more open and transparent, is called to contribute to achievement of this goal. The Republic stably heads for making the conditions for the investors maximally comfortable and several measures, including various tax and other preferences, are approved at the state level.
In the course of the meeting the parties agreed that it was high time to improve all spheres of joint cooperation. The projects in sphere of power engineering, machine building, forestry and ecology were called the prior. The inter-institute cooperation is also called rather promising.
The general director of the power engineering dept under the Ministry of employment and economic development of Finland Esa Khyarmyala has said they are very interested in the project for development of transport infrastructure of Ufa. Besides, as he believes, Bashkortostan possesses all conditions for development of specialized tourism, i.e. natural tourism, including bicycle raids, rafting, fishing and hunting.
At the end of the meeting the delegation of Finland has invited the colleagues from Bashkortostan to visit their country in 2012.
