Rustem Khamitov met delegation of Finland
On December 13 the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov held a meeting with the official delegation of Finland, headed by the Minister for affairs of Europe and foreign trade Alexander Stubb. The parties were discussing some problems of economic cooperation. The President RB acquainted the guests with economic and industrial potential of the Republic. For today Bashkortostan holds the seventh place in Russia by population and is found in the Top 10 of Russian regions by industrial production. The revenues, obtained from oil mining and refining and oil chemistry make up 30% of the Republican budget.
Machine building is the second important direction in Bashkir economics – here the plants for production of aviation engines, helicopters and oil equipment are located. Besides, Bashkortostan is a big producer of grain, meat and milk, standing in the Top 5 of the best Russian regions by these showings.
It was stated at the meeting that the potential for Bashkir-Finnish cooperation was great first of all in agriculture, timber industry and production of building materials. Moreover our Republic is opened for the investors. The President RB has told about the latest laws, providing essential privileges for the investors. He has underscored that he, as the head of the republic, personally guarantees comfortable conditions for work of the investors. The Government RB also keep control over lowering of the administrative barriers.
“Bashkortostan is a hospitable republic with good natural, business and economic climate and we would be happy to establish business relations with you” — the President of Bashkortostan said.
The head of the Finnish delegation Alexander Stubb told that representatives of 20 big Finnish companies arrived in Bashkortostan. They present building, woodworking, logistics and transport services.
A meeting of the workgroup Bashkortostan-Finland will take place within the frames of the visit and concrete directions of future cooperation expected to be determined in the course of it. Some of these proposals were raised during today's meeting. In particular, the possibility of presentation of Bashkir enterprises in Finland was under discussion.
