Possible deliveries of agricultural products to Bangladesh were under discussion a the meeting of the leadership of the Ministry of agriculture RB with the delegation of Republic of Bangladesh. The delegation consisted of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bangladesh in Russian Federation M-r Saiful Hock, the secretary for food problems of the Ministry of foods and emergency situations Barun Dev Mitra and his deputy Khandoker Atiar Rokhman, the press-service of the Ministry for agriculture RB reported.
Bashkortostan is considered one of the biggest agricultural regions in Russia. Every year the republic produces more than 3 million tons of food grain. The internal grain consumption makes up 2,4 million tons. Bashkortostan can sell about one million tons of grain both in Russia and abroad.
The population of Bangladesh, almost equal to Bashkortostan by its territory, is 160 million people. Earlier this republic produced about two million tons of grain . Now the output dropped to one million tons. That's why the deliveries of food for this country acquire great importance. Further development of mutual relations will help Bangladesh to solve its problem of food safety and promises to become mutually beneficial.
Bashkortostan can also offer Bangladesh food buckwheat and sunflower. As soon as our region is the leader in cattle livestock and milk production in Russia, Bashkortostan can supply Bangladesh also with dry milk.
The guests from Bangladesh have also visited the Bashkir State Agrarian University, since they are interested in training of their students at the leading agrarian institutes of our country.
