Representatives of Bashkortostan will take part in the VIII international contest of Koran readers

The VIII international contest of Koran readers and hafizes is opened in the capital of Tatarstan- Kazan today. It will last two days and 35 people submitted the  applications for participation, the contest's press-center reports.

The competitors present Russia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Ukraine, Byelorussia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Dagestan, Chechnya, Kabardino-Balkaria, Ivanovo, Tomsk, Saratov and Perm regions and Saint-Petersburg present Russian Federation.

The contest will consist of two stages and it is organized by the Hafiz Center under the Russian Islamic University with the assistance of the World Organization for hafizes training under the World Islamic League, the public organization for Islamic sciences from Kuwait and the charity fund “The Light of Koran”.

The first elimination stage will take place today, November 24. The final stage will take place tomorrow, November 25, in the concert hall of the Tatar State Philharmonic Society by G. Tukay.
