Opera singer Salavat Askarov has become a national artist of Russia

On the eve of the National Unity Day the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev presented state awards to the prominent activists of culture and arts, including the soloist from the Bashkir State Theater of opera and ballet Salavat Askarov. He has become a national artist of Russia.

Salavat Askarov is a national artist of Bashkortostan and laureate of the State Award by Salavat Ulaev. He started his professional activity in 1969 at the Bashkir State Theater of opera and ballet.

In 1976-1980 he was working at the Tatar State Theater of opera and ballet by M. Jalil, in 1980-1987 – at the Nizhniy Novgorod's State Academic Theater of opera and ballet by Pushkin. Since 1987 he is again the soloist at the Bashkir State Theater of opera and ballet.

Since 1988 Salavat Askarov lectures at the Ufa State Academy of Arts by Zagir Ismagilov.
