The monument to the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay will be installed in the capital of Bashkortostan in front of the Ufa State Tatar Theater “NUR”, as it is decided by Ufa administration.
The action on installation of Gabdulla Tukay's monument in Ufa was initiated in September by the Republican Tatar newspaper “KYZYL TAN”. The popular Bashkir poet Irek Kinyasbulatov has written a big article concerning the necessity to install the Tatar poet's monument in Ufa. The editorial staff of the newspaper “KYZYL-TAN” organized the debates to this theme. On September 19 the open letter to the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov was printed on the first page of “KYZYL-TAN” and many well known activists RB – poets, writers, philologists, public activists, journalists put their signatures under article, urging to mount the monument to the great Tatar poet in Ufa.
“2011 is announced the Year of Gabdulla Tukay according to the decision of the international organization “TURKSOY” in all Turk countries as well as according to the decree of the President of Tatarstan in Republic of Tatarstan “ — said in the letter — “It is done not accidentally since Gabdulla Tukay is not just the great Tatar poet and dozens of nations, Turk-speaking first of all, consider him their own poet – the classic of Turk literature and the Master of Word”.
The 125th anniversary of Gabdulla Tukay was widely celebrated this year in Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, in many other Russian regions, CIS and foreign countries. The monuments to the great poet have already been opened in Kazan, Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Uralsk and Ankara.
