The record number of old mercury lamps is collected in Bashkir trans-Ural zone
The eco-car of the state unitary enterprise “TABIGAT” has collected about 1800 old fluorescent lamps and thermometers in Bashkir trans-Ural zone.
“For two hours of work in every town of Bashkir trans-Ural zone we've collected about 1800 mercury lamps – more than one thousand in Sibay and more than 700 in Baimak. At that about 1700 mercury-containing wares fall on the fluorescent lamps. We are sure that the number of ecologically responsible people in these towns go up and these people know exactly that bringing the old mercury-containing lamps for recycling they thereby protect their health and environment” — the engineer-ecologist of the state unitary enterprise “TABIGAT” Albina Shamsutdinova said to “Bashinform”.
All collected lamps were sent to the special site for waste recycling in the town of Sterlitamac. In the nearest future the eco-car will leave for the town of Yanaul.
Since the beginning of the year the only eco-car in the Republic has made more than 20 raids and collected more than 4700 mercury lamps from population.. The main goal of the project is to raise the ecological culture among local population and to form the responsible approach to handling of the dangerous waste.
