Bashkir clergy comes out for introduction of religious basics at Republican schools
The representatives of Islam, Christianity and Judaism came out for introduction of religious basics and secular ethics at the Republican schools today in the course of the press-conference, held in the Ufa mosque “LALA-TULPAN” within the frames of the seminar “International and inter-confessional harmony is the base for development of all Russian regions”.
The head of the Central Clerical Muslim Dept Administration RF Muhammad Tadjuddinov says that positive results can be observed in those Russian regions, where this subject is already studied at schools. In his opinion such practice should be widened and such lessons have to be introduced at the Bashkir schools too.
“We have to give our kids such chance-to learn religions” – he stated.
In opinion of Roman Silantiev — the docent of the Moscow State Linguistic University’s chair of world culture – one mustn’t press one certain religion on children, thus giving them the choice, when implementing such subject at schools.
“Such subjects help to raise spirituality” – the first deputy chief rabbi of Bashkortostan and Ufa Shaul Igal underscored – “When a person learns his religion and religions of others from the early age, he can understand other people better. Besides, such step will increase mutual understanding and mutual respect”.
The representative of Ufa Eparchy, Archbishop Ignaty Klimov expressed regret that Bashkortostan didn’t take part in the experiment on teaching the basics of religions at schools. According to him the parishioners of the Christian churches would be happy to see this subject at local schools.
“None of the religions teaches bad things” – he stated – “If we give the notions of good and evil to our children and tell them about God, we will be able to save our society”.
