By the number of internet users Bashkortostan is found in the Top 10 of Russian regions. One million 360 thousand people regularly visit the World Wide Web. Moscow stands on the first line in this list with 8 million 421 thousand users, Moscow region stands on the second position with 3 million 12 thousand and Saint-Petersburg – on the third (2 million 863 thousand).
The rate of Russian regions by the share of internet users in 2010 is based on the official data of the Russian Statistics Committee and published on the eve of the Internet Day, celebrated on September 30 every year.
In spite of high actual showing Bashkortostan holds only the 39th place by the number of internet users in percentage ratio. One million 360 thousand people make up 33,4% of the population RB, while 8 million421 thousand internet users in Moscow make up 72,9% of the citizens of the capital of Russia. With such showing Moscow holds the first place. Karelia holds the second line with 59,2% of users and Saint-Petersburg – the third with 58,8%.
Karachai-Cherkess with 10,8%, Dagestan – 10,6% and Tuva – 7,8% occupy the bottom of the rate.
On average 37,9% o population make use of internet in Russia and with such result the country stands far behind the world leaders. Thus more than 80% of citizens regularly enjoy global internet in Norway, Iceland and Sweden.
