Rustem Khamitov has met the Ambassador of Ukraine in Russia Vladimir Elchenko
On September 21 the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov held a working meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in Russian Federation Vladimir Elchenko in the Republic House.
The issues of further cooperation between Bashkortostan and Ukraine in sphere of economics, science and culture were under discussion in the course of the negotiations, the public affairs service of the President RB reported.
“We really want to show you our Republic and those achievements we have. We want to tell you how we keep Ukrainian language and culture here, in the Republic, and how it is important for us. We also try to do so that people can study native languages and native culture and we will be consistent in this work, avoiding any departures from the line we fixed for ourselves” – Rustem Khamitov said during the talk. He has underscored that Bashkortostan is one of big Russian regions.
“We are the seventh by population and always found in the first dozen by industrial production and by many other indices. We are standing in the Top 3 of the biggest agricultural producers in Russian Federation, holding the first place in the country by milk and the third-fourth – by production of meat. We have the biggest cattle livestock, so we are the main consumers of agricultural production; I mean machines, harvesters, tractors and attached implements. Machine-building is also on-upgrade today and our engine plant produces the components for the helicopter engines, manufactured by the Ukrainian company “Motor Cich”. But oil refining and oil chemistry are our key business and here our business relations can be called the best. You consume rather many oil products, made by Bashkortostan, and it is good but we’d like to see these volumes much higher as well as our mutual benefits” – the President of Bashkortostan mentioned.
According to M-r Elchenko Bashkortostan can be called the example from the point of view of the care of ethnic Ukrainians, living in the Republic.
“The example of Bashkortostan is so revealing that as far as I remember the OBSE Supreme Commissar for the affairs of national minorities Knuth Vollebeck chose Bashkortostan as one of the exemplary places and demonstrated how everything could be improved in Russia in a whole , using Bashkir experience as an example” – the diplomat said.
He thanked the President of Bashkortostan for the policy, which was well-known and highly respected by Ukraine.
