On September 12 the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov held a field gathering in Ufa administration, devoted to the prospects in development of the capital RB. The head of the Republic analyzed the social-economic situation in the city, focusing the attention of the gathering’s participants on the “pain spots”, demanding closer watch from the Ufa authorities.
“In a whole the situation in the city can be called not bad and by the rates among the Russian cities with the population at one million people and more we hold quite deserved positions, some of these positions are leading and some-problematic” – Rustem Khamitov mentioned.
At present time about 200 rather big enterprises work on the territory of the city, producing almost a half of the all-Republican industrial output. About 70% of the summarized financial result of Bashkortostan falls on these enterprises. The incomes of the citizens of Ufa are substantially higher than in the Republic on average. Every tenth citizen of Ufa is engaged in small or mid-business. But at that the share of own incomes in the local budget makes up 65% and in Salavat, for instance, this showing amounts to 70% though the base for income-forming in Ufa is many times higher than in Salavat.
“The reserves in this direction are available and the current level of budget provision in the city isn’t enough” – the President of Bashkortostan underscored – “The consolidated budget of Ufa makes up 15 billion 200 million rubles – this is not much for such city as Ufa”.
The President RB considered unemployment as one more serious problem, demanding close inspection.
“Workplaces and labor market are the actual problems for the city” – he said – “By the level of unemployment Ufa stands in the fourth dozen among municipal and urban districts in the Republic, nonetheless the official unemployment in Ufa is higher than the average all-Republic level –almost ten thousand officially registered unemployed people and this figure is comparable with the population of a regional center”.
Rustem Khamitov critically estimated the state of building sector in Ufa (654 square meters of housing was erected in the city in 2010, i.e. 100-150 thousand square meters less than in Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Kazan and Rostov). 262 thousand square meters was put into exploitation for seven months of the year. At that more than a half of the erected housing falls on the individual low-height housing. The shortage of kindergartens and free vacancies in these kindergartens, the supply of local residents with sports centers, swimming-pools, additional education institutions, leisure and rest places and children’s sports grounds in the yards also remain rather painful problems for the city.
“We are facing the shortage of many other things, which make a big city the real capital, comfortable for its citizens and guests” – Rustem Khamitov mentioned.
The President RB specially halted on the ecological problems of the city and urged the Ufa authorities to act more resolutely with respect to the Ufa enterprises, polluting the environment.
“Ufa has great potential of development” – he mentioned – “The city possesses practically ideal geographical position, standing on the crossroads of transport, staff and trade ways and flows. Ufa stands in the center of the territory with population more than 20 million people and we have to use these competitive advantages in full measure in order to raise the level and the quality of life of its citizens”.
