Rustem Khamitov has held a meeting with the President of the International Pupils Games Torstein Rush
On July 25 the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov has held a business meeting with the President of the International Pupils Games Torstein Rush and the General Secretary of this organization Richard Smith.
As the public affairs service of the President RB reports, the parties were discussing the problems of children’s sport development and in particular the participation of young sportsmen from Ufa in the summer International Pupils Games.
“I heard much about you. This day can be called lucky for us: I can meet you here. I think you’ve got good impressions of our Republic and we face good prospects to continue efficient negotiations concerning holding sports competitions in Ufa and in the Republic. We are a sporting Republic and winter sports are developed here especially well: biathlon, mountain skiing, skating etc. We pay much attention to development of sport and to development of children’s sport first of all. We have rather extended program for development of children’s sport in the Republic, so we aren’t going to spare either means or resources for realization of this program”.
On behalf of the International Pupils Association Torstein Rush expressed great gratitude to the President RB for the opportunity to visit our Republic.
For the reference: the International Pupils Games are the sport competitions for children and teenagers at the age between 12 and 15, held with the assistance of the International Olympic Committee and aimed at consolidation of friendly relations between nations. The First International Pupils Games were organized in 1968 by the sports instructor from Slovenia Method Clemens.
The summer International Pupils Games will take place in August 2011 in Scotland and more than 1,5 thousand sportsmen (judo, badminton, swimming and light athletics) from 70 world cities, including Ufa are expected to take part in it.
