The primaries of “United Russia” and the all-Russian National Front start on July 21 in 55 Russian regions, including Bashkortostan, and all other regions will join the preliminary voting on July 22. The “United Russia” leadership made the decision to prolong the primaries for two weeks – till August 25 – because of the great number of the participants, RIA “NOVOSTI” reports. According to “United Russia” 4655 applications for participation in the primaries were submitted all over the country. The primaries will be held on 836 sites (on 17 sites in Bashkortostan). Practically all candidatures, recommended by the regional coordination councils of the all-Russian National Front for participation in the primaries, were approved by its federal coordination council.
One has to pass the preliminary voting procedure in order to be included into the “United Russia” list at the parliamentary elections in December. The candidates have to convince the electors that are worthy to be included into the list. The staff of the electors is quoted: the members of “United Russia” make up 50% and representatives of public organizations, joining the all-Russian National Front, make up other 50%. The candidates will be selected by the secret vote. The final variant of the list will be approved at the “United Russia” congress, appointed on September.
