“About one thousand settlements in Bashkortostan remain unprotected from fires” – the deputy head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Directorate in Republic of Bashkortostan Dinar Salikhov, patronizing the state fire department, stated at the last press-conference in the news agency “Bashinform”.
As he said, the voluntary fire prevention divisions are quite able to solve this problem. At present time 43 such divisions, responsible for protection of 0,9% of the Republican territory, work in Bashkortostan on a voluntary basis (73 people). In accordance with the federal law “The voluntary fire prevention service” the volunteers may take part only in fire extinguishing and organization of fire prevention services is still the responsibility of the professional rescuers.
In 2011 39 fires have been extinguished with participation of these divisions – 2,3% of the overall number of fire cases in the Republic.
As Dinar Salikhov reported, in the nearest future 123 teams and 100 voluntary fire prevention brigades will be established in the Republic and according to the preliminary estimations their total number will amount to 1576 people.
