The number of grave crimes against children recently goes up in Bashkortostan. The number of tortures and rapes is especially high, the deputy head of the police department for juvenile affairs under the Ministry of internal affairs in RB Andre Shitov reported.

“2455 crimes against minors have been committed on the territory RB in 2010” – he said – “including eight murders, 16 severely bodily injures (including the cases with lethal outcomes), 550 beatings, two tortures and 38 rapes. Though the overall number of crimes with respects to minors has certain tendency to reduction, the number of grave crimes goes up, especially the number of tortures and rapes”.
