“Ufa will watch the best boxers of Russia” – the Vice-President of the Russian Boxing Federation Dmitry Lunev has said at the “Bashinform” press-conference, devoted to the forthcoming Russian men’s boxing championship, which is to be held in Ufa on April 22-30.
“Originally the championship was scheduled in the town of Chekhov but because of the act of God the organizers have refused to hold the championship there. Ufa was one of the pretenders along with some other cities of Volga and Ural regions and we chose your city because popularity of boxing here is high and Ufa offered the best conditions. The whole cream of Russian boxing will play in Ufa – the winners of the federal district championships, champions and prize-winners of the previous Russian championships and the best sportsmen in the men’s rate of the country”.
More than 160 boxers in ten weights will take place in the Russian championship in Ufa and this is the elimination tournament to the world championship in Baku, appointed on November 2011.
“Four Bashkir boxers will play in the tournament” – the chief coach Rim Bashirov reported – “These are our strongest guys and two of them are included into the staff of the Russian national boxing team – Leonid Kostylev in the 60kg-category and the heavyweight Niyaz Faizullin. Besides, we have a young talent in super heavyweight Danis Latypov (he has won the federal district championship) and one more promising boxer Timur Khudoyan (64kg).
The TV-channel “Russia-2” will broadcast the final fights (April 30) and possibly the semi-finals (April 28).
