Bashkiria expects the second wave of industrialization

author: Eugene Rakhimkulov

Bashkiria needs the second wave of industrialization today, the President of the Republic Rustem Khamitov has stated at the recent presentation of Bashkortostan in State Duma of Russia. In his opinion the Republic uses its potential just by 15-20% for today.

“No other region in the country has such potential as our Republic” – he said – “Somebody has oil, somebody – gas, somebody- forests and we have all this together”.

In 2010 the gross regional product of Bashkiria has risen by 4%, making up 800 billion rubles, and though this showing looks quite good, Rustem Khamitov says the Republic needs the gross regional product at 1,5 – 2 trillion rubles and that is quite reachable thanks to its resources. The President of Bashkiria believes that further exploring of the Bashkir trans-Ural entrails should become the base for intense development of the region and though dozens mining enterprises work on this territory for many years the Bashkir trans-Ural isn’t yet explored up to the end.

“We mine 35% of Russian copper, 40% of Russian zinc plus silver and gold” – Rustem Khamitov said – “But the trans-Ural isn’t yet investigated up to the end and the first geological surveys, which we resume today, show that rare metals and diamonds can be mined there”.

According to M-r Kamitov Bashkiria still possess the reserves of deep oil. It lies at a depth of five kilometers and it will be a hard job to mine it out, but it exists and the Republic has to attract investors for exploration of such oil deposits.

Along with the exploration of the Bashkir trans-Ural zone the President of Bashkiria has called other big projects, able to double the Republican gross regional product: the rise of the house-building volumes two and a half times by 2020 and erection of a new hydroelectric station on Ufa-river, which has to push the development of the northeastern part of the Republic.
