Tajikistan appointed its Consul General in Ufa. This is Sodik Imomov, who was the advisor on foreign policy under the President of Tajikistan before. The Consul will start working already on March 1, 2011.
The question concerning opening of the Tajikistan’s Consulate General in Ufa was raised long ago. The Chairman of the Government RF Vladimir Putin has signed the corresponding decree still in August 2008 and that time it was decided that along with Bashkiria the activity of the Consulate would cover other 13 Russian regions in Volga and Ural zones but because of some reasons the opening of the Tajik representative office in Ufa was delayed and the final positive decision was made by the Russian Government only at the end of 2010.
The Consulate General of Tajikistan in Ufa is opened on the mutual basis. The similar Russian representative office has to be opened in Tajikistan too because the number of such diplomatic centers in two countries has to be the same.
The question concerning appointment of the Consul General in Yekaterinburg was solved practically at the same time with appointment of the Consul General in Ufa. This is Parviz Asoev, who earlier held the office of the deputy chief of the Consulate Dept under the Ministry of foreign affairs of Tajikistan. He already started working on February 21.
