Ecological problems of trans-Ural zone come out to the forefront
Bashkir trans-Ural is ecologically unfavorable region as a result of well-developed mining industry. The rivers Ural and Tanalyk have the highest – the sixth and the seventh levels of pollution. The level of pollution in these and other rivers of trans-Ural zone exceeds the maximally allowable concentrations hundred thousand times, the deputy Minister of ecology and nature management RB Olga Lazdina reported yesterday at the meeting of the subsurface management department collegium, devoted to the work balance-2010.
She also reported the actions on improvement of the ecological situation in the region were included into the governmental medium-term program for trans-Ural economic development, approved by the Government RB on February 14, 2011.
“These measures have to be executed in the first turn” – Olga Lazdina explained.
The deputy Minister also told that in September 2010 the Ministry of agriculture of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of natural resources and ecology of Russia signed the intergovernmental agreement concerning improvement of ecological situation of the transboundary rivers, including the river of Ural.
