The gathering re “The measures on consolidation of international agreement in Russian society” of the Russian State Council Presidium will take place in Ufa on February 11 under the chairmanship of the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.

One has to remind that on December 27, 2010, in Moscow during the joint gathering of the State Council RF and the Commission under the President RF on realization of the top priority national projects and demographic policy the President of Bashkiria Rustem Khamitov offered Dmitry Medvedev to hold the gathering of the State Council RF re international and interreligious relations in Bashkiria.

“The actuality of this theme can be easily explained by the growth of extremist religious and nationalistic activity in the country” – Rustem Khamitov said that time. In his opinion “our Republic would like to share its experience in solution of international problems in the region with other regions”.

It is not accidentally that 2011 is declared the Year for consolidation of international agreement in Bashkiria.

The Presidium of the Russian State Council never gathered in Bashkiria before. The gathering of the State Council with the agenda “The activity of the regional authorities on attraction of investments for economic development to the regions in Russian Federation” has taken place in Ufa on October 11, 2007. Therefore the gathering of the State Council Presidium RF on February 11 in Bashkiria will be first in Russian history.

For the reference: The State Council of Russian Federation is a consultative body under the President of Russia, which is busy with examining the most urgent problems in everyday life of the country. It was established on September 1, 2000, by the decree of the President RF.

The Presidium is formed for consideration of the most important and operative problems, its personal staff is determined by the President of Russia and has to be rotated once in six months. The Presidium’s gatherings are held as required but, as a rule, not less than once per month.
