1228 game machines, four roulette wheels and 22 card-tables were seized in the underground clubs and casinos of Ufa in 2010, the head of Ufa police Ilgiz Sadykov reported on Tuesday. In opinion of the Ufa Mayor Paul Kachkaev they work in this direction very actively but this struggle looks like a battle with the windmills or with the dragon, when three new heads grow up instead of one they cut off.
“We just close one such club and immediately several new ones appear in the city instead” – he said.
It should be reminded that according to the Russian legislation the prohibition on gaming on the whole territory of Russia, except four specially reserved zones – in Maritime zone, in Altai and Kaliningrad regions and on the borderline of Krasnodar and Rostov regions, has come into effect still on July 1, 2009. But Ufa authorities still fail to try and get the execution of this law on the territory of the city and local administration jointly with the law-enforcement bodies go on struggling with the underground clubs already for the second year successively.
