The group of students, studying at the International Islamic University Al-Azkhar in Cairo, including about 50 students from Bashkiria, turned out to be blockaded at the University’s hostel in the course of the disturbances. According to information of one of the students the food reserves will last just for one day. The students ask to send an aircraft and transport them back to Russia.

The deputy chairman of the Clerical Muslim Dept RB for education and PR Ruslan Sayakhov reports the communication with the students is just single-channel: only the students from Egypt can make phone calls.

“We reported about our students to the representative office of Russian Ministry of foreign affairs in Ufa and to the council for public and inter-religious relations under the President RB – Ruslan Sayakhov said – “I gave them the phone number of our students and told about the conditions they were found in. The students are ready to undertake any actions, which we prompt to them”.

Because of the ongoing disturbances in Egypt all lessons at the University are cancelled. In a whole 120 people from Russia are staying at the hostel.

The public affairs service of the President RB reports, the Presidential Administration RB sent the address to the department of international relations under the Government’s Machinery RF, to the Ministry of foreign affairs RF and to the Emergencies Ministry RF in order they would undertake all possible steps to render assistance to our students.
