On January 20 the President of Bashkiria Rustem Khamitov held a meeting with the President of the Union “Chernobyl” Vyachesalw Grishin in the Republic House.
The arrival of the President of this all-Russian Union in Ufa is connected with the forthcoming 25th anniversary of the damage at Chernobyl Atomic Power Plant.
“We were talking with the President about the necessity to install the monument to the liquidators of Chernobyl crash from your Republic” – Vyacheslaw Grishin mentioned – “I hope the erection of this monument will be included into the plan of actions, devoted to the 25th anniversary of the accident”.
The question of social protection for Chernobyl breakdown participants was also raised at the meeting.
Rustem Khamitov promised to help the former liquidators and to undertake additional measures on their housing provision. The state obligations with respect to Chernobyl participants in the Republic will be fulfilled in full measure.
At present time more than three thousand people, having suffered as a result of Chernobyl tragedy and its after-effects live in Bashkiria. Every fourth Chernobyl participant has disabilities.
The accident at Chernobyl Atomic Power Plant has occurred on April 26, 1986, because of the destruction of the fourth power unit.
