The Lutheran community of Ufa celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Ufa’s Protestant church on November 13-14.
The church’s building near the park by I. Yakutov was erected by the wife of one of Ufa’s businessmen Catherine Feke. The small cemetery and the pastor’s house were located nearby. In 1937 the church was closed for services. Several years ago the building was returned to the local Lutheran community and restoration of the church started. Its walls preserved the original brickwork. The church was erected in the strict Gothic style with the typical Roman counterforts. Only the low-height bell tower over the main entrance will distinguish it from the 100-year-old original. The church’s hall is meant for 100 people.
The Ufa’s Protestant church has become the spiritual center for the local Lutheran community, running to several hundred people. The conference, devoted to the 100th anniversary of the church, will take place at the Bashkir State University on November 13 and the members of the Lutheran community, representatives of the local state bodies and the charitable funds, taking part in restoration of the church, will participate in it. The organ concert of the well-known musician Vladislaw Murtazin will be held in the church in the evening. The festive public service will be held in the Protestant church on November 14.
