author: Eugene Rakhimkulov

Tolerance was always peculiar to Bashkir nation. This is the opinion of the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov, which he expressed during his meeting with the members of the World Bashkir Kurultay executive committee

“The representatives of more than 130 nationalities inhabit our Republic today” – he said – “But from the most ancient times Bashkirs were the root population on this land. In spite of it we continue drawing out the principles of multinationality and tolerance, since we can continue our development only in this way. Sure, the cases of the national conflicts once were present in our history but those were always the cases of striving for justice and protection of our rights. Bashkir nation never positioned itself as a conqueror. It was always so and it should be so now. We need peaceful and calm life and the World Bashkir Kurultay has to make weighty contribution to its development”.

According to the President RB for the last 15-20 years the Bashkir culture has survived a real .advance in its progress. Music, literature and art were actively developing. Sure, this progress demanded serious financial investments but these expenses were quite well-taken.

The members of the World Bashkir Kurultay executive committee have discussed the main problems, standing before Bashkirs and the Republic in a whole, in the course of the discussion with the head of the region.
