Bashkiria began actively developing from the point of view of economics and culture in the middle of the 30s of the last century. In 50 years the largest in Russia oil-mining and oil-processing cluster, remaining one of the main industrial centers in the country, has been formed here as a result of a stormy economic upsurge. Oil industry, machine-building and instrument-making, agriculture, building industry, metallurgy, light and food industry have formed the present image of the Republic, the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov said, speaking at the solemn meeting on Monday, devoted to the Republic Day.
The head of the Republic has mentioned that science and educational system have also received powerful development along with the local industry and all abovementioned allowed the Republic joining the list of the most economically and culturally developed formations of the former USSR and Russian Federation.
