The landfills in the Republic practically don’t meet the existing norms.
According to information of the Ministry of nature management and ecology RB there are 2500 landfills of factory waste in Bashkiria and only 33 of them (just 1,3%) meet the state standards in full volume. The specialists say in case of improper storage the factory waste pollutes not only the soils but both the surface and underground waters, which in their turn scatter this waste over long distances.
It is true that in 2009 the amount of the factory waste in Bashkiria has become by 6,06 million tons, if compared with 2008. In 2009 the factory waste made up 36,78 million tons in Bashkiria in a whole.
JSC “Bashkir Copper” is considered the biggest caterer of factory waste in the Republic. 19620,4 thousand tons of waste was formed as a result of this company’s activity in 2009. The Utchalinsky ore-mining and concentrating plant and the Bashkir copper-sulfur plants are in the lead here and JSC “Caoutchouc” has the least amount of factory waste among big industrial enterprises – only 13 thousand tons.
