The conference, devoted to the 120th anniversary of Achmet-Zaki Validi, has taken place in Saint-Petersburg

The conference, devoted to the 120th anniversary of Achmet-Zaki Validi, has taken place at the Oriental faculty of the Saint-Petersburg’s State University.

Well-known Orientalists and representatives of public community have taken part in this action, initiated by the Plenipotentiary Representation of the President RB in Saint-Petersburg.

Before the beginning of the conference its participants put the flowers to the bust of the great scientist, which was installed in the courtyard of the Orientalist faculty in 2007 according to the agreement with the University’s leadership.

Further the participants have become acquainted with the exposition of the Turk Investigations Center by A.Z. Validi. The work on organization of Bashkir language teaching at the faculty is running now.

The Doctor of historical sciences, Professor and Arab specialist Eugene Zelenin was rewarded with the rank “The honorable member of the Academy of sciences RB”.

New books were presented to the library of the Orientalist faculty and to the Achmet-Zaki Validi Museum, including “The History of Bashkirs” in Russian language, issued by the publishing house “KITAP” in 2010, the collective monograph “The History of Bashkortostan: antiquity, the Middle Ages”, the last numbers of the journals “The Problems of Oriental Studies” and “The Panorama of Eurasia”.

In the course of the conference the reports about investigation of Achmet-Zaki Validi scientific heritage, about role and meaning of this historical figure for the history of Russia and modern society were made by the Bashkir scientists.
