The drought in Bashkiria didn’t allow gathering enough quantity of grain

870 thousand tons of grain will be gathered in Bashkiria in 2010 because of the drought – 3,6 times less than usually. The Minister of agriculture RB Azat Ziganshin told about it at the meeting in the Government RB, devoted to containment of the main food prices. The sunflower seed harvest is 2,6 times less than usually and sugar-beet harvest – 2,3 times less.

As the Minister said, the amount of the stored fodders is two times less and it adversely affects the volumes of milk and meat production as well as the cattle livestock. Along with the drought the trade also negatively affects the rise of prices, setting too high extra charges. For example, the average price for one kilogram of buckwheat exceeds 50 rubles in the shops, though the peasants sell it more than two times cheaper.

In order stop the rise of the food prices and beat the stir down the Republican authority is undertaking several principal steps now. For support of the agrarians 4,5 billion rubles was appropriated from the federal and the Republican budgets. The interdepartmental workgroup for monitoring the food prices is already formed. 516 thousand tons of grain is kept at the grain elevators in order to provide the food security in the Republican towns and the five-month operative insurance grain reserve is constantly maintained in Bashkiria.
